I met Amanda once when we were in college. She was friends with my husband through a school program, and when she visited our campus for a weekend, we crossed paths. Even though we hardly really knew each other in person, though, Amanda has encouraged me in my career from its early stages and we’ve become friends online over the years as a result.
Amanda is a big supporter of equal rights and speaks her mind when she is passionate about something, and in that way, the two of us are a lot alike. I appreciate her for her honesty and candidness, and I’m glad that we feel comfortable exchanging pleasantries even though we never really developed an in-person relationship.
Amanda is a busy person holding down a busy job, so I’m not sure if she’ll respond to my letter, but I enjoyed writing her a note about what’s going on with us nonetheless. I spent a lot of time sharing the joys of living with a 16-year-old boy, which has been a fun experience for my husband and me. I’m looking forward to dropping this one in the mail because the other day she mentioned on Facebook how much she loves the Mail a Smile stamps (I used a Finding Nemo one on her letter). Plus, we can all use a little pick-me-up moving into the crazy holiday season, right?
