I mentioned in my last newsletter that I’d discovered The Elevated Envelope, a project written by a girl named Tara to encourage the creation of creative envelopes. I’ve bemoaned the fact that I’m not all that great at mail art, and that I just don’t know what to do to send creative mail (made worse by the fact that when I tried to make mail art, it was returned to me in pieces). But I wanted a bit of a snail mail challenge and I’d like to receive some truly beautiful mail, so I signed up for the summer challenge through The Elevated Envelope.

I received the instructions for the challenge a couple weeks ago. There are five of us in the challenge, and we’ve all been given the same word around which to creatively decorate envelopes for the other people participating in the project. I have to decorate the envelope primarily using self-created art, so I’ll have to stretch my imagination because I’m really not an artist. I don’t want to share the word with you quite yet while I chew on some ideas, but once I’ve decorated my envelopes, I’ll definitely share my creations with you.

Three cheers for summer mail challenges!
